VINSPACE SIGNS SPACEX LAUNCH CONTRACT FOR 2027 SATELLITE MISSION

VinSpace said Tuesday it had signed a launch contract with SpaceX to send its satellites into orbit aboard a Transporter rideshare mission in 2027, marking a step toward developing Vietnam's domestic space industry. Under the agreement, VinSpace will develop, manufacture and operate the satellites to demonstrate its in-house technologies and strengthen its satellite-engineering capabilities. The company said the mission is part of a broader strategy to build expertise across the space sector, including satellite design and manufacturing, launch management, in-orbit operations and space-data products. VinSpace announced in April that it planned to develop and launch its first satellites in 2027 as it seeks to establish the expertise and infrastructure needed to expand Vietnam's emerging space industry. The company said selecting SpaceX reflects its strategy of partnering with leading global technology firms while building domestic capabilities. The agreement will give VinSpace access to an established commercial launch platform as it works to demonstrate its technologies and expand its role in the global space industry.
VIETNAM TARGETS NATURAL GENDER RATIO AT BIRTH BY 2035

Vietnam aims to reduce its gender ratio at birth to the natural level of about 106 boys per 100 girls by 2035, according to a draft Health Ministry plan released for consultation. The plan targets a ratio of below 109 boys per 100 girls by 2030, down from 110 in 2025, after the ratio peaked at 114.8 in 2018. The government plans to tackle the imbalance by enforcing laws banning fetal gender selection, increasing inspections of medical facilities, monitoring online advertising for gender-selection services and running public awareness campaigns. The ministry attributed the skewed ratio to a persistent preference for sons, pressure to produce male heirs, smaller family sizes and easier access to prenatal gender-identification technologies. It warned that a prolonged surplus of men could create significant demographic and social pressures, including difficulties in the marriage market, greater gender inequality, gender-based violence, trafficking of women and girls and broader challenges to social stability.
