VIETNAM'S NGHI SON REFINERY SECURES CRUDE OIL TO OPERATE THROUGH END-SEPTEMBER

Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC, operator of Vietnam's largest oil refinery, has secured sufficient crude oil supplies to maintain operations through the end of September, state energy firm Petrovietnam said on Thursday. The 200,000-barrel-per-day refinery, originally designed to process only Kuwait Export Crude, can now process 10 crude grades. It produced 4.1 million metric tons of refined petroleum products and imported 39 million barrels of crude, including 18 million barrels of Kuwait Export Crude, in the first half of the year. The refinery is owned by Japan's Idemitsu Kosan and Kuwait Petroleum, each with a 35.1% stake, Petrovietnam with 25.1%, and Mitsui Chemicals with 4.7%.
